Annually, Boston’s North End celebrates the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua on the last weekend of August. This traditional event stems from the early 20th century. During this time, many Italians immigrated to the United States and settled in the northeast. In Boston, the immigrated Italians made the North End their new home.
When the Italian immigrants came to the United States, they brought their traditions and customs along with them that they celebrated in their homeland. In the early 1900s, Italians established a nonprofit religious and cultural organization dedicated to honoring St. Anthony of Padua. Throughout the years, this trend has continued.
The St. Anthony’s Feast in Boston’s Little Italy has become the largest Italian religious festival in New England. The feast is known as the “Feast of all Feasts”, it is not something you want to miss!
