Traditional Pasta Sauces from Italy

Italians are known to consume pasta a lot. They eat this with different types of sauces. In this post, we will discuss the different traditional pasta sauces and what makes each unique.

Aglio o Olio:

The Aglio o Olio is referred to as “garlic and olive oil.” This is because the two ingredients, together with a couple of fresh chopped parsley, are usually required to prepare the sauce. These three are needed to be heated in a pan until the flavors combine. As the cooking process continues, add a touch of kosher salt, fresh ground pepper, and fresh linguine. Mix thoroughly, and add the grated pecorino Romana. You could also add red pepper flakes if you love your sauce tasting hot on the tongue.

Creamy Alfredo Sauce:

To make this sauce, four tablespoons of butter may need to be melted over medium-low heat. Then, one cube of dried chicken bouillon and about 3 spoons of flour would need to be stirred slowly. This pre-sauce will then be cooked for up to five minutes until the roux is slightly brown. The heat of the fire would then be increased to a medium level, and one and a half cups of water would need to be added. A continuous stirring would be required, and subsequently, a cup of milk would be added. Stirring would continue until the thickness is gotten.

Mushroom Marinara:

To prepare this sauce, you need to add one or three cups of virgin olive oil, one large chopped yellow onion, and six pressed cloves of garlic in a pot. Then stir until the process is soft. After doing this, slice six tomatoes and mix them with 15-ounce cans of diced tomatoes. In an uncovered port, boil them for about 15 minutes while stirring periodically.

Add a cup of red wine next and half a teaspoon of Italian seasoning. Blend all contents properly until smooth enough. You should then add mushrooms and a cup of chopped basil. Boil all the contents together in low heat.

Ragù Alla Bolognese:

This is one of the best Italian pasta sauces. Alberto Alvisi invented it in the last 18th century. Bolognese means a bowl of comfort. Weirdly, spaghetti bolognese is famous outside Italy. However, it is hardly found within Italy. The pasta is served with gnocchi or larger. The Bolognese theme comes with several variants. What makes the Ragu Alla Bolognese unique is that pork ribs are added to the sauce while brewing. This is to have a rich and meaty flavor. The sauce is usually served with tagliatelle pasta.

Sugo di Carne:

This traditional Italian meat sauce ingredient is pork, ground beef, carrots, celery, canned tomatoes, and a splash of red wine. The sauce-making process is seasoned with pepper and salt. You could also boost the taste of the sauce with tomato paste and porcini mushrooms. It is enjoyed with pasta dishes like rigatoni and fettuccine.
